Cammie x Sting Puppy Blog: 12/2013 to 3/2014

March 20, 2014 Tomorrow is the due date, and I’m guessing that we will be right on schedule. Stay tuned!

March 15, 2014 Cammie is doing well and I am now feeling little puppies moving about in her belly. So exciting! Michelle’s son has built a brand new whelping box for this litter. This will be the pup’s home for the first few weeks of their lives. The black circular dish is a heated whelping nest. It maintains a constant temperature of about 95 degrees. When they are not nursing, the pups can huddle in the whelping nest to keep warm.

February 28, 2014 Our little momma is developing a belly! The photo on the red and white striped towel was taken on February 27. A few days earlier, on February 21, Michelle was grooming Cammie, and she could feel and see that her rib cage was slightly expanded. In the photo, you can see a slightly expanded rib cage, the beginning of a little belly and slightly enlarged nipples. The pups will be here in just 3 weeks!

February 24, 2014  Good news! Cammie had her ultrasound today and it confirmed that she is pregnant. The vet said that it is hard to tell how many pups there are because it is easy to double-count and it is very possible that there are pups that she couldn’t see. So we don’t know how many, but we do know that we’ll be having puppies in less than a month! March 21 is our due date!

January 21, 2014  Cammie and Sting were bred on Sunday January 19 and again on Tuesday January 21. Thanks to progesterone testing, we were able to pinpoint Cammie’s fertile period (it is only a few days) and both matings were during this period. We are expecting that puppies will be born on March 21, give or take a day or two. They should be ready for new homes by Memorial Day weekend.

January 6, 2014  Great news. Our beautiful little lady is in heat! We will be breeding her to Sting in a week or two. If all goes well, pups will be born in March and the little bundles of joy will be ready for new homes in May.

December 12, 2013  We plan to post news about the Cammie x Sting breeding and puppies on this page. Right now, we are just waiting for Cammie to come into heat. She will be in heat for about 3 weeks and she’ll be bred during the second week and/or the beginning of the third week. Then 9 weeks until pups are born and another 9 weeks until they are old enough for their new homes.

Getting ready for the puppies!
