About Us |
This web site was started in hopes of encouraging the breeding of small standard poodles, and with plans to breed my beautiful little Cammie, a 35 pound standard poodle with a wonderful calm temperament.
In 2014, we bred Cammie to Sting, a 40 pound AKC champion. Both dogs were healthy, health-tested, had beautiful structure and lovely easy-going temperaments. And they were small compared to most standard poodles. Just what we wanted. I had no breeding experience, but I partnered with Sting’s owner, Michelle Birchard of New Destiny Poodles. Michelle has over 15 years of experience with standard poodles, including breeding, grooming, showing, and participating in a variety of dog sports.
Cammie produced 5 beautiful puppies. They all have good structure and fabulous temperaments. The two girls turned out to be small (35—38 pounds), but the three boys all matured at 50 to 55 pounds! Sam, the one we kept, is 50 pounds. That is 15 pounds heavier than his mom, and 10 pounds heavier than his dad. He’s still on the small side of average for a male standard poodle, but certainly bigger than I wanted!
However, Sam has turned out to be perfect in every other way. With Michelle handling him, he has won a UKC championship, Best in Breed, Best in Group and Reserve Best in Show. He also won Best of Winners in an AKC show, earning two points towards an AKC championship. Most importantly, he is a wonderful pet with a rock-solid temperament — just as sweet and happy as you could ever hope for. Michelle adores Sam and she wanted him to be part of her breeding program. He sired a beautiful litter of 8 New Destiny puppies, born on February 3, 2017. We can’t expect that he will be producing small standard poodles. But his mother, father, and both grandmothers are on the small side, so maybe some will be smaller than average.
The photos on the home page show three generations of our poodle family. Cammie (the cream girl at the top right) was bred to Sting (the silver boy). The puppy that we kept from that litter is Sam (the cream boy at the bottom right). The small black poodle at the top left is Cammie’s mother. For information about the next generation — Sam’s puppies — see the puppy page.
